More About That Good Feeling

I was very tempted to run out and buy a Lotto ticket as Galen Kindley suggested in a comment on my post yesterday. Since I've had this feeling something good was about to happen, one would naturally think I should cover all the bases. But there was only a small window of time when I had the car yesterday (since the hubby played bridge both afternoon and evening), and I would have had to change out of my sweats and comb my hair to be presentable in public. It wasn't worth the trouble. Sorry, Galen, I was just too comfortable.

Not that a Lotto jackpot wouldn't be most welcome, but the feeling I have doesn't seem like a money thing, at least not up front. It feels more like winning free massages for a year, or having an agent call me up out of the blue instead of me having to write a gazillion query letters with no results, or receiving a box of free books I didn't even order.

There was one lovely bonus in my e-mail. I subscribe to posts from Zen Habits and always enjoy what Leo Babauta and his guest bloggers have to say. Monday's post was How to Live a Better Life With Less. It's not a new concept, but there was something about the way Leo said it that sounded right to me. That's why I shut down my computer and watched the DVD of Doubt last night instead of working. Don't you just love Meryl Streep?

I'm still on watch for more good things. Maybe Helen Ginger's comment yesterday was right on the money. She said, "Keep enjoying the tingly powerful feeling. Either something big is going to happen or you'll look back and be amazed at all the small great things."

Small great things are just fine (but I'd still like to have a year's worth of free massages).

How lovely that the feeling has continued. It is making you notice all the small pleasures of life and that's a lesson I should learn. Meryl Streep is amazing. When I finally saw Mamma Mia earlier this year and discovered that she has a wonderful singing voice as well as all that acting talent my first reaction (honestly) was "Oh, come on! She can sing too? How is this fair?"

When feel good moments come, I try to jot down what made me feel that way so that when tough moments arrive, I look back at what made me happy, and remember that there can be good and bad only lasts a little while ... does that make sense?

Glad your good feeling/moment has lasted :)

Hi Everyone,

I'm thinking good feelings should be passed around, 'cause we all seem to enjoy the idea a lot. Good thought, Carolyn, about taking a few notes. I haven't really tried to analyze what's going on here, but I like it and it would be cool if I could get it back whenever I wanted.

Okay, Marvin, between you and Galen, you've talked me into it. I'll buy one Lotto and one Powerball for Saturday. But, honestly, I don't think that's where it's at.

Meryl Streep -- another movie I really liked was The River Wild. She was so strong!

My last fortune cookies said I was going to attain a major goal. I had a momentary feeling of 'how cool is that?' but then realized I have too many major goals right now. I think I'm going to look at anything positive, starting with the fact that the dryer guy got here within the designated window and fixed the dryer (and I'm NOT going to think about all the reasons why it took a month for the problem to be fixed.)

Ah, how “zenful” is this: a woman to comfortable to pickup for sure free money. Well, I’m working on getting to that state, level, aura or whatever it’s called, but my window of opportunity—WOO--is closing, so, something better happen fast.

I hear ya! A years worth of free massages would be fabulous. I do love Meryl Streep too. I haven't seen Doubt yet, but I do highly recommend Julie and Julia. Meryl does an outstanding job as usual. I hope your good feelings continue into the weekend.

I hear you, Patricia. On the feeling that something good is going to happen, and something "gooder" (that's a word my three year old has recently coined) than just winning a lottery.

Galen told me awhile back that he was sure that things were going to look up for me, and the signs have started coming already.

Maybe September is the month when we reach a personal Zen like state.
