Sunday Bits and Pieces

Beth Groundwater's Book Giveaway

Drop in at Beth's blog to get the exact instructions, but basically all you have to do to enter is sign up to follow her blog as well as Midnight Ink's blog, Inkspot. Can't get much easier than that. Beth writes the Claire Hanover gift basket mysteries as well as her new series featuring Mandy Tanner, whitewater river ranger.

Alex J. Cavanaugh's Book Giveaway

Alex is celebrating his 200th follower (now more than 220) at his blog, Alex J. Cavanaugh. This one has a few rules/requirements to win a copy of his sci fi novel, CassaStar (to be released October 19, 2010), as well as a feature on the blog. Alex will be one of my guest bloggers in October.

Chuckles

Bodie Parkhurst's post at Magic Dog Press -- a little humor about airplane travel.

The LOL Cats at Spunk on a Stick (L. Diane Wolfe)

Elspeth Antonelli's Fun Friday -- more crazy signs

What I'm Reading

I'm well into The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick. This is alternative history (what if Japan and Germany had won World War II) with a bit of sci fi in the mix. It's both fascinating and disturbing.

What About You?

Feel free to post links to contests or book giveaways, funny blog posts, or what you're reading here in the comments. And don't forget to watch for the August Mystery Writers of America book giveaway post. As soon as the information is available from MWA, I'll post it here.

I just had a contest and will be giving away three copies of my book. Seems like a lot of people are giving away books theses days.

And I added a section to my blog on the left column of the home page promoting books of authors I've spotlighted, Desert Hedge Murders being one of them. All a visitor has to do is click the image and they'll be taken to Amazon of B&N and can purchase a copy.

Thanks for plugging my contest, Patricia!

Hi Stephen -- I actually was over at your blog before I came here to check my own comments. Thanks so much for putting my cover out there in your sidebar. You're awesome.

Donna -- I'm with you. I was startled to see the "Back to School" features and ads in our newspaper this morning, and then realized it really is almost time. Our schools will be back in session before the end of the month.

Diane and Alex -- you're very welcome. Blog posts that make us laugh, and contests to win books -- two of my favorite things.

Good morning (nearly afternoon), Yvonne. I'll be dropping by your place a little later today. I've resolved to spend a good part of my afternoon visiting my friends.

Alternate history books seem to be popular right now. I have one lined up to read.

Enjoyed your post.

The book you're reading sounds fascinating. Adding it to my must read list. Thanks for the links too. Love the contests. Mine will be finished up on the fourth.

Neat links. I'd already checked out Beth Groundwater's one. I love author giveaways - feel like I've almost met the author if I win. (Ah, that big if... but I did win two of Beth's books once and loved them!)

I feel like I've been hiding in a corner missing all my blog friends, and now my son's about to leave home and needs me to help shopping and driving so I'll miss even more (but I'm so proud of him getting a job!).

And I did get my eBook published after hiding away editing, so I'm happy. (i.e. over the moon.)
