Wednesday Bits and Pieces

What I'm Reading:

Mixed Blood, a thriller by the South African writer Roger Smith.

Where I'm At Today:

I'm at The Blood-Red Pencil with a list of recently released books of interest to writers.

Tomorrow's Guest Blogger

My Thursday guest will be Bob Sanchez, author of When Pigs Fly. You know you don't want to miss that.

Other Blogs of Special Interest This Week:

If you want a recipe for Super Easy Roasted Pear Ice Cream (and you know you do), visit the Foodie Road Show.

The Fresh Apple Cake at Mystery Lovers' Kitchen looks pretty good, too.

And these Chocolate Honey Truffles at Janet Rudolph's Dying for Chocolate.

And Where I'm Going This Weekend:

To the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers Colorado Gold Conference in Denver. I'm running out of time to pack, too.

Patricia - The book you're reading sounds terrific. Have you read his Wake Up Dead? I hope you have a wonderful time at the writer's conference; it sounds like a terrific experience.

Have fun at the conference and thanks for the links.

Good morning Margot and Clarissa, two of my favorite early birds. I have "Wake Up Dead" from the library and plan to read it next. I like the way Smith writes and the multiple point-of-view approach for thrillers is my favorite.

I definitely plan to have a great time at the conference. I'm getting all of my volunteer work out of the way on Friday, so all day Saturday and on Sunday morning, I'm just a plain old attendee, trying to choose the best workshops and panels to attend.

I will have to check out the Fresh Apple Cake recipe. We just picked a bunch of apples from our tree this weekend.

Hi Jane -- The conference ought to be good for three or four blog posts. Maybe I'll come back with a few good agent and editor quotes.

Kerrie -- I just had our dwarf apple tree pruned because of fire blight and shaped, so it looks very nice. Unfortunately, all the apples are so wormy (because I won't spray). I might one good batch of applesauce. If you make the apple cake, let me know how it turns out.

Get many insights at the conference.

Too bad, I don't cook anymore unless forced to. The Fresh Apple Cake sounds good, especially with so many apples still sitting in the garage.

Kay, maybe Kerrie will take some apple cake to the NCW coffee next Tuesday.

Have I mentioned your awesome-ness? It is worth repeating. I will also check out those truffles, and that cake...

Hi FRS (Foodie Road Show lady). Well, thanks! You're pretty awesome, too. Who knew that little girl I met in Indiana way back in 1969 would turn up again, as a grown up, in Colorado, as a blogger buddy? The Internet is an awesome place.

I like writing the Bits and Pieces posts -- helps me feel organized (even when I'm not).

I've been reading Michael Connelly's The Poet because my husband really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it too. Then I read Sharing Sam by Katherine Applegate--another YA book to wind down with. And now I'm getting ready for October with a book called All Hallows Eve. Plus I'm catching up on reading blogs. So many good posts.
