Ten Things I've Learned So Far

1. I need to listen and ask questions more than I talk.

2. A fancy title doesn't change a thing. Palmetto bugs are still cockroaches.

3. Smoking is a nasty habit that makes people sick.

4. Career politicians are parasites.

5. It's okay to eat chocolate, but eating a whole box of chocolates at one sitting is stupid.

6. Big tasks are completed one tiny chore at a time.

7. I learn more about things that interest me from talking to women than from talking to men.

8. Learning to sit quietly and relax is a valuable skill.

9. I'm not required to finish every project I start.

10. Smiles are good and should be given and received on a daily basis.

I agree! I have to take your word about Palmetto bugs, though.

Patricia - Thanks for posting these lessons. They really are worth thinking about, and I love the one about smiles :-)... My favourites are #6 and #8. Such important things to consider in this fast-paced world....

Good morning, everyone. If you Google "Things I've Learned So Far" you'll find more of these lists, some containing real gems. I like the 101 tings at Mitch Ditkoff's The Heart of the Matter blog

Fun list, Patricia. Especially liked the one about career politicians. Think it may be linked to Palmetto bugs, come to think of it.

A wise list, Patricia. I need to remember them all - but especially #6.

I love this list, especially the one about talking with women! YES!!

And now, this is what I'm posting on my followers blogs:

I re-signed in as a follower because a glitch in my blog forced me to delete it and create a new one, with almost the same title; I exported and then imported everything, but you don't get your followers back! But I did copy out the list of Blogs I'm Following. Now I just have to let everyone know what happened so they'll be able to find me.

Click on my signature link here, and come over and follow me again. I don’t want to lose you!

Aren't Palmetto bugs bigger than German cockroaches?

Don't know because I've never lived or been south enough to've seen one ... is that hundreds or thousands of them?

What a great list. Hilton Head where we vacation every year has lots of big Palmetto bugs that fly! They like to hang out on Palmetto trees.

Kay -- I can't speak with authority about the relationship between Palmetto bugs and German cockroaches, but I can tell you the Palmetto bugs are big, very big. And icky.

And Monti, they also like to hang out in vacant houses and eat wallpaper (because the paste tastes good).

Those are good things! I talk to more women than men also, and I'd have to say that I learn more. Come on guy dudes lift your game. I think it's the emotional connection to something. I learn from you so that's good.

What a great list. I agree with every point!

Patricia Stoltey said...

It's definitely the emotional connection, Simon. I love talking to guys, but too often the conversations end up about sports, politics, or widgets and gadgets. Guy dudes should definitely lift their game. :)

Thanks for being here, everyone. I'll look forward to reading more "Ten Things I've Learned So Far" posts at your blogs.
