It's Friday....Yay!

Why is this Friday special? Because I'm having my own private little write-in this weekend. My muse says, "It's about fritootin' time." She's right. I've been goofing off for way too long.

Katie says, "Hi!"

Did you know NCW has a series of writing contests in 2011? Don't you think you should check it out? The short fiction contest deadline has been extended to January 31st.

Consider Hosting Dilly

Rena Jones, children's author, has an adorable idea for promoting her upcoming release, A New Friend for Dilly. Rena is looking for hosts for a Dilly flat figure that will get mailed from place to place, a chance for Dilly and all the rest of us to make new friends along the way. Each host will take a picture of Dilly, such as with a pet or in a scenic location, and then write a post about the experience. All the details are at her blog, Rena Jones.

Pat - What a great idea - a write-in! I'm going to do the same thing, although I don't know if it can happen this weekend. Still, you've inspired me! Thanks :-)!

And thanks for spreading the news about Dilly.

Hi Patricia - I'm having a lay-in or a knit-in or something. I'm trying not to write this weekend and I started early by staying home from work today (two clients easily rebooked) cuz my back is sore and there is a snow storm happening. I'm looking forward to doing little!!
That Katie Kat is a sweetie!

Hi Yvonne, Thanks for being such a faithful visitor.

Margot, I keep reminding myself how productive I am when I do the organized writer's retreat in the fall, so doing it at home seems like a no-brainer (especially when hubby is playing in a bridge tournament this weekend so the house is quiet).

Diane, the kitten is so much fun. And I'm seeing a whole new side to my husband, who seems to be enjoying her even more than I am.

Alex, she has taken over.

Jan, I hope your back gets better soon. You're wise to take it easy, especially if you're likely to get slick sidewalks and parking lots. Knitting or reading seem like good options.

Hi Karen -- I always have such good intentions and then spend too much time on the Internet. This weekend I have blocks of time set aside where I'll be offline, only using Word.

Good morning Mason. I think Rena's idea is great fun, and it could be mutually beneficial if other children's authors picked up on it.

Right on for your write in! Have a productive weekend, Patricia and if you need a break just get out a piece of yarn and watch Katie leap into the air. Leaping kittens are hilarious.

Elspeth, that's exactly what we do when she wants to play. I have a little plastic ball with a bell in it, so I tied it on the end of a long piece of yarn and she chases it, leaps, does backward somersaults off chairs (and knows how to follow the yarn to find the ball when I hide it). I haven't laughed this hard in ages.

Okay, now I'm getting off the Internet and won't be back for at least two hours. Writing, writing...
