Lazy Blogger's Post

Yesterday was so cram full of events that I was too worn out to write a coherent post about books or writing. I won't even mention the big meal, and the wine, I consumed at the dinner theater where we enjoyed a performance of Smoky Joe's Cafe. My husband and I were celebrating our upcoming 25th wedding anniversary.

Yes, we left Katie at home by herself all evening. She didn't make any messes and she seemed glad to see us when we got home, so all is well.

So on to the lazy blogger's post:

The December winners of the Fort Collins Coloradoan photo contest have been announced. As always, the entries are all worth a peek, and the winner, "Moonrise at Sunset," by Mike Payne, is stunning. To view the photos, go to the Coloradoan's Xplore Photo Contest Page.

I have not submitted any photos to this contest. The entries are always so good that I'd have to get a spectacular shot before I'd consider it worthy.

However, I did catch a few pretty clouds just before sunset one evening last month. This was before the skies turned gray and the cold and snows hit. I stuck a mini-version of the photo up there instead of my profile photo.

Please drop back by tomorrow if you want to see whose name is drawn to receive the copy of Chicken Soup for the Soul: Shaping the New You. Entries were closed as of midnight last night.

Happy 25th, Patricia! I'll warn you, anyone married for over 15 years automatically becomes my marriage role model. (Sad, but that's where we're at in our society.) You should share your tips for a successful marriage sometime. You could even relate it back to writing (I'm sure there is a correlation in there somewhere); maybe something about the masochistic natures of writing and a life spent trying to live with someone else? :)

My wife and I are coming up on our 9th (in May), and I don't think anything could be more important to me than to make sure we see our 10th, 25th, etc.

May you enjoy 25 more years of health, happiness, and companionship together!

Congratulations on 25 years! Our next one is 20. No idea what we'll do to celebrate.

Patricia - Congratulations on your anniversary! I'm glad you had a good time, and I can't blame you one bit for feeling a little lazy today. You deserve a break anyway...Enjoy the day and may you have many more happy married years.

Some days, a great post idea just doesn't appear - but I think you did all right!

Congratulations on your Anniversary! And on Katie not making a mess while you were out. Our cat William was horrified that we were taking down the Christmas decorations. He thought they were his personal toys.

Your sunset picture is really beautiful! All blues, purples, and pinks. Sunsets are my favorite!

Congrats on your anniversary! I'm pleased to know dinner theatre is alive and well in your area; is it a professional or amateur company? Give Katie a special rub under the chin for me.

Thanks, E.J. Marriage can definitely be an adventure in commitment and determination. I think the most important thing one needs (besides love) is a great sense of humor.

Diane -- the dinner theater was especially fun for us because Bill agreed to go just to be nice, and then he enjoyed it. He's now looking up Lieber and Stoller (the composers of the music for Smoky Joe's Cafe) to see what else they wrote. This could be really big if he decides he likes musicals. The next two shows are 42nd Street and Annie Get Your Gun.

Thanks, Margot. I actually think I'll take a nap later...

Thanks, Alex. I'm sure you could see I was having trouble...

Mary Anne -- we had the sharp tips of Katie's claws trimmed yesterday, so we're watching as she tries some of her leaping tricks (like up to the wooden backs of the dining room chairs) and then slides back down without catching hold. She thought she had all the fun stuff in the house under control, and now nothing is working. I can see her shaking her head and wondering what her humans have done to cause this inconvenience.

Elspeth, I think this group is professional. Some of the actors are local, but others (according to their credentials) have traveled with road shows and appeared in performances all over the country. Dinner theater and a variety of other performance venues are available to us in Northern Colorado. We got culture, baby.

Congrats on the upcoming anniversary. Hubster and I will celebrate #42 in August. Have a great weekend. I'm also a 'lazy blogger' -- Fridays I share pictures. No brilliant commentary, no coming up with a fascinating topic.

Terry, I have to admit I envy your Friday field trip idea. And thanks for the anniversary good wishes. Congratulations to you for your 42 years with your hubby. It's a grand thing to find the love of your life early on and make the journey together.

Thanks, Eagle!

Twenty-five years is a feat! My husband and I are celebrating our 10th and like he says, 'it seems like only five minutes... under water.'

LOL -- Clarissa -- I'm afraid we all have moments (or sometimes years) that feel like that. I'm always suspicious of those long-married couples who say things like they "spend every moment together" or "have never had an argument in 30 years."

Happy, happy 25th!!

For a lazy post, this is better than I'm afraid my posts will be down the road!!

And I love the "profile" picture. I think this is a lovelier picture of you than the chicken LOL!!

Happy 25th! The best I've done is 9 years, so I'm a little envious. It's okay to be lazy sometimes. This why I have no fixed posting schedule. Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Ann. I think you're one of the few who actually noticed the chicken picture when it went up. The photo is what I like to call sky blue pink...

Mason, thank you so much.

Jemi -- so happy almost 25th to you too. It's a good feeling.

Hi Simon -- Hey, 9 is pretty darned good. I always figured if you can make it to ten, then you ought to make it all the way. :)
