Q is for Quick

And today's post is going to be one of the quickest you'll find during the A to Z Challenge. I'm still suffering from this miserable cold from hell. I probably should be quarantined. Nevertheless, I'm not a quitter. I'll hang in there for all of A to Z.

Anyway, the post I'd originally planned for today (Q is for QRZ?) on the subject of ham radio isn't going to happen. Maybe next year. You can check out an earlier post I wrote about the joys of being a ham in Why I Spent the Night in the Boys Locker Room.

However, I guess we could turn this Q post into a quiz. Who knows what QRZ? means in ham radio jargon, and how do you pronounce it?

Pat - I am sorry to hear that you're still feeling so sick. But this is a very creative way to do "Q" :-). Hope you feel better soon!

Argghh - spring colds are the worst. I like quick - quick bread, quick turnaround time, quick-ies, and I like quizzes but I have no idea what those letters stand for...

Commiserations on the cold, hope you'll feel better soon.
And I think QRZ means 'Who's calling?"

Spring colds are the worst. They seem to take up permanent residence. Get better soon.
I don't do the ham thing unless it's part of dinner.

Paula has it! QRZ? is pronounced Q-R-Zed? and is a ham radio operator response to a call from another ham when he didn't catch the caller's call sign. It's needed often during a contest when calls are frequent and close together and the competition is fierce.

Margot -- You're such a faithful visitor even when I'm off the computer for ages. Thanks so much for that.

Hi Jan -- Hmmm. Quick breads would have made a good post.

Thanks, Yvonne. This crud is getting me down. I'm giving up on my atempts to self-medicate and calling the doctor today.

Laura -- thanks for stopping by. Now that my eyes have stopped watering so much, I'm going to do my best to visit some blogs today. See you then.

Hi Mary -- LOL about the ham dinner. And thanks for the good wishes.

My cat has been sleeping right next to me at night and has my cat allergies making me feel icky.

Oh Patricia feel better soon! Hot toddies, a hot water bottle lay back and enjoy a classic movie or two to take you mind off the misery.
Take care.

Hope you're feeling better soon. Interesting subject ham radio. I hope the hobby/interest never dies out. I've heard it can be a lifesaver in some emergency situations.
