Who Wants to Do NaNoWriMo With Me?

I'm going to participate in National Novel Writing Month with the following goals in mind:

1) Start a new book based on an idea I've played with for about five years.

2) Finish at least that 50,000 word draft between November 1st and November 30th. No excuses.

3) Use NaNoWriMo to develop the habit of writing every day.

If you sign up for NaNoWriMo, let me know. I'll post my progress each week on my Wednesday Scramble and invite all the rest of you to post your updates in the comment section.

Head on over the the National Novel Writing Month website and sign up now. I just did. My NaNoWriMo nom de plume is PattyPetunia.

I was debating doing it, but I can give it a try. (:

My knowledge and skill of writing improved over the past year, and I can't wait to make my second attempt to win. The Write-Ins are the best at meeting other NaNoWriMo's and keeping you on track. My Bucks County Writers Group grew out of the Write-Ins during NaNoWriMo.

My profile from last year is up: LauraMCampbell.

Pat - Oh, I wish you well with NaNoWriMo! I have so much admiration for people like you who really plunge into writing like that :-).

I did it last year and will probably do it this year as well.

Ahhh, I'm nuts about NaNo! I will definitely, definitely be challenging myself to it again this year.

I'm lexicon, though I haven't made my way to the NaNoSite since last year. Sheesh, where did that time go?

Hugs and best luck!

I'm absolutely doing it. I have to do it as a rebel, as my idea has been pestering me so badly, but it is only about 6 pages so far... and an outline, but that's allowed.

I love WriMos. I love the camaraderie and adrenaline, but I also write better this way. I am inclined to a tangent if I don't make myself hurry through the main story. Any tangent I still want to add at the end is probably more eligible for a subplot and I thankfully lose the tracks that are unworthy.

I wonder how many participants there will be this year. A couple of years ago I helped hand out awards and encouragement to a TGIO party for local NaNo writers, and I was amazed at the number of pre-teens and teens who completed their 50,000 words. I can't wait to give it a try.

I´d love to try at some point, but November is a very busy month for me as a teacher so unfortunately ...

I did it the last couple of years, and will do it again - woot! Trai is teaching a class at the library in Oct to help prep for this event, if anyone is interested. And even if you don't get to 50K, it's more than what you'd have otherwise, right? I did it while working and taking a technical writing class last year, so it can be done (don't ask about my social life that month though ...). Be sure to sign up with FtC as the main region, to find out about the write-ins. Last year we had daily ones. Oh, and my nano name is rinib. See you!

I'm clearing my social calendar for November, Rini (and that's not easy because there's a lot of cool writerly stuff going on early that month).

I am edging closer....ever closer....

Time to sign up already?!!

I plan to do it again and as I have done will start basically from scratch on Nov 1, although this year I do have a basic idea that came up as a sequel last year to what I was writing at that time. I just have to formulate a story line.

I'll be signing up soon.

I bookmarked the site so that I can think about it. I have a few trips and other obligations that month, but I've always wanted to participate.

Have a great weekend.

I've never thought of doing this. Worried it might make me nuts. Oh, wait . . . yeah. I'm actually insane.

I've just developed an idea for a new paranormal mystery. I'm an urban fantasy author. But I'd like to work on it some.

I may have too much going on, as my next novel is about to be released--but I'll think about it.

Patricia Stoltey said...

Medeia and Lorelei -- I've wanted to try it for the last three years and am finally going to do it. Now we'll see if I can go the distance.

I'd love to do it with you. I started last year but got knocked on my keester with bronchitis early in the month and didn't finish. And if at first you don't succeed...
