How I'm Spending my Black Friday

Don't even think for a minute I was up all night, trying to beat the competition in keeping the most ridiculous shopping schedule and spending the most money on Black Friday (which included a lot of Thursday in many stores). I just don't do that.

There are three things on my agenda today.

One is to drop in at the Holiday Artisan Mart at the Fort Collins Senior Center. This annual event is a shopper's paradise for those who want to support artists and crafty sorts, most of them from Northern Colorado.

My second stop will be the Northern Colorado Writers Holiday Mart. There I'll be looking for yummies from the bake sale and books by local authors.

And the third thing on my plan is to hurry home and add a bunch to my NaNoWriMo word count. My goal is to finish on Tuesday...or even Monday.

Have a great weekend.

The only store which will get my business today is a grocery store--for something other than turkey!

I actually blogged about how I would spend today--working on my edits. I'm renaming this day "Writing Black Friday" in protest!

Good for you for doing something so constructive and meaningfull, Patrica!

Good for you. If I leave the house at all, it'll be for a trip to the Post Office to mail books to one of my contest winners. We've been gone for almost a week, watching our daughter compete in her first official Iron Man event; then Thanksgiving down at our son's. We had our other daughter visiting from N. Ireland as well.

I just want to regroup, decompress, and catch up.

(For anyone looking for some on-line Black Friday deals, I'm giving away a download of one of my books--check my blog for how to get yours without having to fight the crowds.)

I'm having a buy nothing day! Yahoo. We don't really do Black Thursday up here in the cold north - though the retailers are trying to get us to. Nope says I! And good for you for buying from local artisans. I'm going to get back to my knitting and revising.

All worthy endeavors, I'd say. Hope you enjoy the day, and reach the goal you've set for your word count. I'm not doing NaNo, but I AM making progress on my second full-length memoir.

Happy Friday!

You have a nicely planned and sensible day ahead. I don't do the Black Friday shopping--don't do much shopping at all for that matter. Good luck with NaNo. I guess I'm bowing out for this year--too many other things happening.

Those sound like GREAT places to shop. Hope you had a great day.

This has been an excellent day.

The nice thing about avoiding the mad rush at the stores is avoiding crazy people like the one who used pepper spray on people so she could get to the best electronics first. That's just nuts.

Sorry I missed you at the NCW Holiday Mart! But I wouldn't want to keep you from your Nano any longer than necessary.

It's happening, Dean. At this second, I only have 8,644 words to go, and lots of time the next three days to write.

I hope it all went well, Patricia. I don't get into the Black Friday stuff either. It's too violent.

I actually ventured out to Old Town to do some shopping. It got me in the Christmas spirit! And the shopkeepers were so cute wearing their plaid (since they renamed it Plaid Friday). I succeeded in my quest to shop local and to buy local products. Got some fun stocking stuffers.
