First Tuesday: Announcements and Stuff

Chiseled in Rock Tuesday

We have a new feature at the rock on the first Tuesday of the month. Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers member Julie Luek will be reporting on the best of the best places writers and readers might want to hang out on the western slope of Colorado. Stay tuned, because you might see the ideal place for a writer's retreat or a family outing.

Visit Chiseled in Rock blog Monday through Thursday for great interviews and posts from agents, editors, literary attorneys, published authors, and reports on new book releases from members of RMFW.

Looking for Guest Authors/Bloggers for May through July

Although my guests do not have to be published authors, they do need to be writers. I'm especially interested in authors with new books coming out, humor writers, and those who write crime fiction or nonfiction. If you'd like to be a guest on my blog and have not been a guest here in the last twelve months, contact me through the e-mail address in my Blogger profile (top right sidebar link).

Watch for Anthology Giveaways Coming Soon

I'll be giving away two print copies of Pooled Ink, an anthology of winning and runner-up writings submitted to various Northern Colorado Writers contests in 2012.

Once you see a copy, you'll wonder why you haven't entered an NCW contest yet. The 2013 contest categories and submission guidelines are on the Northern Colorado Writers website as well as the names of the judges for each category. You do not have to be an NCW member to enter.

I've ordered two copies of the anthology, so as soon as they arrive, I'll announce the giveaway dates and rules.

Jane Friedman's Best Business Advice for Writers

Have you seen these posts from Jane Friedman? She picks the best must-read articles and publishes the links on her blog each month. I recommend you check them out.

Rachelle Gardner's Post on Fear

Last week literary agent Rachelle Gardner posted "Can't Hit Send?" on her blog. It was perfect timing for me. If you're stuck in a holding pattern with your manuscript, afraid to hit send and get that novel on its way to agents or publishers, read Rachelle's post. Two days after reading it and thinking about it, I hit send. Thanks, Rachelle.

What about snarky writers?

Pat - Thanks for the news roundup. I'll definitely be checking out CIR. And thanks for pointing us towards those other blogs and posts. Can't Hit Send resonates with me as I'm almost ready to revise and sand two of my manuscripts off. The point is doing it.

Thanks for the round-ups. I regularly read both blogs --they are always chock full of good advice.

I'm already scheming on my next location.....

Hey, thank you so much for the links! I sent you an email, as your timing is very good. So, too, though, are a couple of these other links.

Alex, I love snarky writers. Come on down.

Hit Send, Margot. It felt so good.

The blog post made me want to head over the mountain, Julie. That's a lovely lodge. Can't you imagine holing up there for a week to write?

That's great news, Hart. I love featuring blogger/writer friends and helping introduce them around.

Diane, we are all set. Bless you for sending your materials early.
