Five Reasons to Love Being a Writer

Here they are:

1.  Because you love other writers -- they're friendly, supportive, and just generally nice people.

2.  Writing is an excuse to hide out with your computer for hours or even days at a time.

3.  Saying you're a writer makes you seem more interesting than if you just say you're retired....or you watch television and crochet...or you're an accountant.

4.  Being a writer gives you a better excuse to attend writers' conferences and conventions.

5.  Getting published is a huge kick--huge enough to warrant a happy dance in public (although so far I've only done that in the privacy of my own home).

Pat - Oh, I love this!! This is such a great list! And may I add? You can work in your sweats or pajamas if you want; there's no dress code!

Writers are such nice people! I like to think we're generally more awesome in other ways, too :-)

I love when something I write goes into print, but even more I love when someone tells me that something I wrote made a difference to them. Ahhh-- that is the sweet reward for laboring over words and sound so much.

I also love that I can wear my hair in a messy top knot for hours on end and no one will ever see me looking so ghastly.
