Woodswoman is Walking el Camino de Santiago

Oh, how envious I am.

I've had my own adventures, but my dreams of a great hiking trip were discarded long ago. Once I thought the Appalachian Trail my goal. But I worked full time and the Trail takes months to complete. Later, when I learned about the walks across Andorra, I wanted to do that instead. Then I heard of el Camino De Santiago when I read actress Shirley MacLaine's 2000 book,The Camino: A Journey of the Spirit.

By then, I was pretty sure I'd never get around to such a trip. Bad knees. Aging body. I took up writing mysteries instead.

But the idea of the camino is so attractive, so hard to give up, that I was overjoyed when a local writer decided to do the trek herself and blog about it. Now I could take the trip vicariously, walk (gasping and whining) next to Woodswoman as she overcomes difficulties, fights her aches and pains, and carries on.

If you have an interest in the blog posts from the trail, you'll find them at Woodswoman Walking...an oldish woman's adventures on foot.

Here are the first four posts:

Departures and Arrivals
Okay, Now We Really Begin...
To Roncevalles and...
It Hasn't Gotten Any Easier Yet...

I hope by the time you read this, Woodswoman is farther along the trail, stronger than ever, and posting every detail at every stop.

Now that I read how difficult the trail is, especially those downhill sections, I'm feeling pretty good about my armchair trekker status.

But I'm still envious.

There's a moral here, you know.

If you really want to do something, don't keep putting it off until it's too late.

Just do it. Do it now.

Pat - Thanks for sharing that blog and those posts. That's one thing I love about modern technology. We can experience things vicariously in a way that we couldn't before. And as for 'just doing it,' I couldn't agree more. If you things off for too long, they never happen...

At least you get to live vicariously through her posts. I don't want to wait too long on certain things either.
