I've Been a Busy Bee This Week

I don't know where the time goes when we get super busy, but it seems like just yesterday I scheduled Kathryn Craft's excellent guest post....but it was way last week. I have excuses.

First of all, I signed my contract with Five Star/Cengage for my suspense novel Dead Wrong. There will be a bigger announcement once I have my contract copy back and make sure I met all the first round deadlines.

Then I scrambled to get some additional materials plus an author photo turned in.

I did the critiques for my writer's group meeting. And I was hostessing the meeting so I had to arrange furniture and polish all the cat footprints off the tables.

There was a bunch of work to do for the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers blog. (Did you check out Aaron Michael Ritchey's post "Why I Have Failed to Write a Word in 2014?" He's giving away one ARC of Long Live the Suicide King to a US resident, so drop over there and leave a comment to enter.)

I signed up to attend the Northern Colorado Writers Conference March 28-29.

I'm thinking about putting an entry in for the NCW Top of the Mountain Book Award, so I'm looking at the first pages of my two pending manuscripts to see which would be best. The deadline is February 1st, so I don't have much time.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention the naps, the grocery shopping, the errands, and BRONCOS FOOTBALL. GO BRONCOS!

This Thursday I have a guest blogger, author Karen Brees, so I hope you'll stop by to meet her. And I really will try to do better with posting next week.

Congrats on your contract news - very exciting stuff!!

I love that you had to clean away cat paw prints. Whenever I see kitty paw prints on my car's windscreen, I wish I could leave them there forever. :P

It's an exciting time, that's for sure. Thanks Alex, Margot, Karen and Trisha.

Trisha, in addition to cat paw prints, I have kitty nose prints all over the windows. She leaves her mark everywhere.

For a minute there I thought you said you had to polish the cat (not sure that would be much fun for either of you). Congrats on the contract!

Yvonne, got your comment just fine. Thanks.

Susan, I know. My organization skills have gone to pot this winter. Hmmm, considering I live in Colorado, that probably should have been stated another way. :D

Hi Mood -- Katie Cat won't even let me clip her claws, so polishing her might have very bad consequences.

Well, I can't celebrate the Broncos with you - I'm a Pats fans - but I will certainly celebrate your new contract. Congratulations!

Woohoo! Congrats on the contract, Patricia! Those deadlines loom large! I've got one coming in February to get a novel I'm working on to the editor... and I'm starting to sweat a little. LOL

My time has been devoured by a few things I haven't been able to control lately. But I did get some good work done on planes last week. :)

Go Broncos! I'm a Bears fan, but I'll definitely be cheering them on against the Seahawks on Super Sunday. :)

LD -- at least I know we'll both be watching the Super Bowl. May the best team win!

Thanks, Karen.

Sweating seems to be part of this writing game, E.J. I'll have another round in a month or so. But I have to admit, deadlines help me get things done.
