Illinois Sunset on the Farm

Here's a photo of a sunset in east central Illinois, taken from my aunt's back yard just a little over a week ago. All of the photos I took were a little "soft" because I was trying to use the sunset setting and I guess I needed a tripod to keep the camera still enough for a sharp, clear shot. Live and learn. I like this one anyway.

I headed for the mountains yesterday for a long weekend writers retreat. I'm supposed to focus on writing, of course, but I'm taking a camera because we'll be in Estes Park, Colorado, just outside the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. This time of year we might see elk or other mountain critters wandering around. I want to be prepared.

If you missed the 6 Questions with Author Patricia Stoltey post over at Jim Heskett's blog, you can catch up by following the link.

If you're a resident of the U.S. or Canada, don't forget you have until midnight tomorrow (Sunday 11/2) Mountain Time to leave a comment on Maia Chance's blog post for a chance to win a copy of her novel, Snow White Red-Handed.

I'll post the winner's name here Monday afternoon.

Beautiful scene. It looks so relaxing and so mysterious at the same time. Have fun on your retreat.

I vacationed near Estes Park one summer. That's some beautiful country. You'll definitely want to take lots of pictures. For a literary-themed day trip, visit the hotel that inspired the Overlook Hotel in Stephen King's "The Shining."
