The Snowiest Christmas on Record for My Town

Finally! A good snow...and it started on Christmas Day. Now it's just after lunch the day after Christmas and it's still snowing. According to the weather record keepers, yesterday was the snowiest Christmas Day on record for my little corner of Northern Colorado. Maybe we'll break another record today.

It's also pretty cold and promising to get colder, but I don't have anywhere important to go for the next few days and I have a huge supply of books and movies on hand. And hot chocolate. And I'm letting the butter thaw to make a batch of oatmeal/cranberry cookies.

I just finished reading One of Us by Tawni O'Dell, and now I'm into the Song of the Beast (a winner of the Colorado Book Award) by Carol Berg. O'Dell's book is a good read, although I'm always taken aback when the pacing is interrupted to tell what a character is wearing. I know that's a matter of reader taste, however, so I don't pick on that in reviews.

Berg's novel is fantasy, a genre I don't read as often as I should, and her story and characters have hooked me. Who knew I'd be so involved in the fate of a bunch of dragons? I'm planning to get back to that book later this afternoon with a handful of oatmeal cookies and a cup of hot chocolate.

Now I have an important announcement. My winter/spring schedule has changed because the surgeon I want to do my knee replacement surgery has suffered an injury to her wrist and will not be operating for several weeks. As a result, I will be having guests on my blog January through March and will instead have a guest break during the month of April and part of May.

If anyone who reads this wants to sign up to guest post during the first quarter, leave me a comment below. If I don't already have your email address, give me a link to your contact info as well.

Now I'm off to make those cookies and watch the snow fall.

The snow looks lovely and the cookies sound really good.
Sorry you have to put your surgery off. I had my knee replaced more than ten years ago when still in my 40's. I hope yours goes as well as mine did. I still jog 3-5 miles most days.
I would also love to guest on your blog. I have a fantasy reissue coming out on Feb. 20th. Here is my email.

Hi Patricia .. even we have snow here - not down here, but further north and it's crocked the roads and travel ...

Glad you're waiting for the surgeon you trust ... Susan has obviously filled one space - I'm sure others will jump at the chance ..

Enjoy the snow and good books .. cheers Hilary

Pretty to look at, no fun to shovel. Sorry about your surgery being postponed. I'm sure you're eager to get it over with. But 2015 will put the spring in your step, that's some comfort at least. Wishing you a happy, healthy new year, Pat.

I'm envious of your snow - even if shovelling is involved at some point. ;) It's summer here and while it hasn't been revoltingly hot yet, it's still been way too hot for me!
