Halloween Hop

Suspense Author Jeremy Bates is hosting a Halloween Hop this weekend. This is one more chance to make a few new blogger friends. As of yesterday afternoon, 89 bloggers had signed up for the hop.

In addition to posting the hop's badge and adding my name to the list, I'm supposed to visit as many of the participating blogs as possible this weekend, mention my favorite monster movie or book, and tell what my Halloween costume will be.

My favorite monster movie is really old. I loved Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) because I was 12 years old and that movie scared the heck out of me. The only movie that has scared me more was Deliverance which I didn't watch all the way through until last year.

And my Halloween costume? I'll be dressed up as "me sipping a glass of wine while nibbling on dark chocolate."

Pat - I love your Hallowe'en costume! What a perfect choice :-). The Hallowe'en Hop looks like such a fun way to meet new bloggers... Thanks for the "heads up" about those giveaways, too.

Halloween Hop!
Hi! The scariest book I've ever read was "IT". It reached deep into my subconsciousness and scared the heck out of me! For Halloween I'll be dragging out my Elmo snuggy for my couch potato costume.

Hi everyone, instead of responding to comments here, I'm popping over to your blogs to leave a comment of my own (and to return any follows). Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Halloween Hop, Sangu - good to *meet* you ;) I had to the 12-year-old cover my eyes and sing-la-la-la over certain parts of Deliverance, too - at age 25. Then I had to read the book because I needed to know how well the film stuck to the story and was far less disturbed. I think the visual took it to a scarier level...or it's possible I skimmed parts in my reading ;)

Now that sounds like a great costume. I might upgrade to the gulping version though...

I took a girl on a "first-date" to see Carrie...that creeped me out pretty good back then, but the one that shivered my core is an old film, black and white. I don't remember the title. I was home alone, late night, maybe 14 years old. There is a creepy caretaker monster/guy escorting a headless body around. They find the head, still functioning in a hat box on a shelf in a closet...just like my grandma kept her hats. I quite watching after that. I can still see the actors and the scene.

I think for a costume I'll dress up as a bar of dark chocolate and let Pat nibble my ears!

Shelley, Deliverance is definitely a high tension film, and the jarring energy in the banjo music helps put us on edge.

Pat, gulping would work.

Dean, that's a ROFL costume. Love it.

Welcome Ttoria -- Dressing up in Scotland offers all kinds of opportunities. Sounds like fun.

J.C., Tara, and Penelope -- with any luck we'll have few Trick or Treaters, which means the mini-M&Ms packets will be part of the wine plus chocolate fun.

Thanks to all the Halloween hoppers who are stopping by this weekend. I'll be visiting more of you this afternoon (while watching the Broncos game to see how Tebow deals with Suh).
