Better Late Than Never, Right?

Why Today's Post is Late

I usually write my posts ahead of time and pre-schedule for publication, but yesterday afternoon I discovered I'd overdone the standing or the sitting or the walking (barefoot) or something and had an uncomfortably swollen foot and ankle.

It was obviously time for RICE: rest, ice, compression, and elevation. Works for me 90% of the time and usually saves me a trip to the doctor (who invariably recommends RICE).

So there I was, stretched out on the couch with my foot propped up on pillows, watching television and not writing a blog post.

This morning I had priority errands and a quick trip to the dentist.

I'm just full of excuses, aren't I?

Now I'm at the computer cleaning out my e-mail and getting this quick post up, and I'm noticing my foot is aching again. Yep, ankle's a little puffy. Time to get the ice pack. But first...

The Fabulous Sugar Doll Blogger Award

This adorable award was passed on to me on June 17th by Sugar (appropriate, yes?) at her blog, Sugar's Randomocities. This award is for bloggers that cheer us up. Thanks bunches to Sugar for including me on her list. She is fun and entertaining, so you might want to pay her a visit soon.

Some bloggers are really good at cheering us up and on, giving encouragement, sharing ideas, educating us, and sometimes just plain being silly. Those with valuable information to share are worth a whole bunch, and a blog post that makes me laugh is a super bonus.

I pass the award on to these four blogs I visit on a regular basis for cheerful information and occasionally a laugh-out-loud moment. Nice folks:

Elspeth Antonelli at It's A Mystery
Cheryl Miller Thurston at Scattershot
Talli Roland
Elizabeth Spann Craig at Mystery Writing is Murder (Yes, I know you've received this award before, Elizabeth, but that's because you really deserve it -- we're heaping sugar on you, babe).

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Sorry about your foot. Hope it's feeling better soon.

You certainly deserve the award. You (and your blog) are a cheering up kind of person. I gasp with delight each time your new template comes up.

I'll be checking out the links.

p.s. Well, that middle sentence may be a bit off grammatically, but it's VERY hot here, and I don't do well in heat. And we just said goodbye to two dearest old friends from Salt Lake City who spent three days with us. They're gone, and I miss them!!

I am NOT one to get on you for being late! Have you seen my blog lately? Nothing BUT late!

I hope you're feeling better. And I hope all that barefoot time was worth it. :)

Two new blogs for me to check out--yay! And congrats on the award.

Congrats on the award. You deserve it Patricia. Just today you reminded me about RICE. I had totally forgotten it. And, sadly, will probably forget it again!

Take extra care.

Congrats on the award. Next time this happens, phone me and I'll astral travel over. Your ankles will love me.

I don't have a blogging schedule. Too much other stuff happening. I try to be consistent, but don't worry when I'm not. Take care, Simon.

Have a great weekend!

Yours is definitely a blog that always cheers me up, and you are a person who always cheers me up. If anyone deserves the award, you do.
And the people who you have passed them onto are wonderfully deserving of it too.

And I love the background of you blog- specially the bird on the right. You've struck the right balance between change, and keeping things the same.

I hope your poor foot is better! Yikes! Our feet deserve our love don't they! A little poem in homage to feet "My feet they take me round the place, they hoist me up the stairs, I only has to steer them and they takes me anywheres!"
sorry - cannot remember the author, maybe the same guy who wrote 'a purple cow'. at any rate one of the few poems I know by heart!

Congrats on the award - and great choices!

Hope your foot feels better soon!

You're all so sweet -- I should have passed that Sugar Doll award on to every blogger I know, including the guys.

Simon, I'll keep you in mind if the foot acts up again. I was thinking acupuncture, but astral travel from a soul healer sounds a lot more interesting and considerably less painful than those needles.

Jan, I love the poem. We take our poor feet for granted, don't we?

Hope all is back to normal now. It's more important to take care of yourself than your blog and it's good to have a time of rest.

Patricia, this time of year in Cyprus finds me typing with my feet in a bowl of cold water. It was an idea a village lady gave me. She was shelling a village heap of beans, she had her feet in a bowl with icecubes floating in it.

I hope your ache goes asap!

I had a GREAT weekend, thanks for asking! Kudos on the award. Sorry I haven't been here in a while ... love the new look! As you know, I'm redoing my blog right now too - hope I can get it looking as nice as yours ... ;)

How's the foot now?

Patricia Stoltey said...

Hi Susan -- The foot is much better. I think I was suffering from "sitting too long at the computer-itis". You'd think a person would know better at my age.

Thanks, Marvin, for the compliment on the blog. It has been fun playing with the new options.

Glynis, Sitting with my feet in a bowl of cold water sounds like an excellent idea, especially later this week when our temperatures will be in the 90s F.
