More Award Fun -- Two for the Price of One

Cat Woods of Words from the Woods, was kind enough to pass on The Versatile Blogger Award to me this week. Thanks, Cat, you're a dear. I appreciate it so much.

This award comes with rules:

1. Thank those who loved me enough to bestow this gift.
2. Share seven things about myself.
3. Bestow this honor onto 15 newly discovered or followed bloggers–in no particular order–who are fantastic in some way.
4. Drop by and let my fifteen new friends know I love them.

Well, I'm a stickler for the rules, so here are seven things about me:

1. My favorite all-time most loved food is pizza.

2. I have not had a pet for the last 25 years.

3. The last pet I did have was a pug.

4. I spent my first two years of college at the University of Illinois, then went back to school ten years later to earn a degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

5. I only have one sibling, a younger brother.

6. The two creepiest places I ever visited were the battlefield at Gettysburg on a foggy morning, and The Little Bighorn battlefield on a sunny, windy day. I think those sites are haunted.

7. I have a wild imagination.

Now it seems I must pass this award on to 15 newly discovered or followed bloggers who are fantastic in some way. Here we go:

Megan DiMaria at A Prisoner of Hope
Stacy Post at A Writer's Point of View
Ellie at Ella's Edge
Steena Holmes at Chocolate Reality
Ginger Simpson at Ginger Simpson's Dishin' It Out
Jan Morrison at Living the Complicated Simple Life
Heather at Heather's Odyssey
Guinevere at This is Not My Day Job
Kiersten White at Kiersten Writes
Jaydee Morgan
Ciss at Journaling My Life Away
Vivian Zabel at Brain Cells & Bubble Wrap
Ann Best at Long Journey Home
Alexandra Crocodile at Friends & Crocodiles
Barbara Scully at From My Kitchen Table

Phew! That was a lot of work. And I still have to contact all these fine bloggers this morning to let them know.

But we're not done yet.

Carol Kilgore at Under the Tiki Hut awarded the You Are My Sunshine: Supportive Commenter Award to me this week. Thanks, Carol, for thinking of me.

This award did not come with a list of rules or requirements, but I do know quite a few fine bloggers who deserve recognition for their wonderful comments. Carol passed the award on to five bloggers, so I will do the same. These are just a few of the bloggers who cheer me up:

Terry Odell at Terry's Place
Yvonne at Welcome to My World of Poetry
Simon Hay at Simon Hay Soul Healer
Margot Kinberg at Confessions of a Mystery Novelist
Clarissa Draper at Listen to the Voices

I hope you'll pay Cat and Carol a visit and that you'll find a few new friends among the other bloggers I've listed above. Happy blog-hopping.

That is a whole lot of new blogs for me to check out. Patricia, you are singularly responsible for several hours of my day being "wasted" every week, and I can't thank you enough for that.

Two well deserved awards for you. Congartulations.

Patricia - First, congratulations on your awards. They really are richly deserved!

And thank you for passing the Sunshine award on! I am honored to be one of the recipients. That's awfully kind of you : ).

You're right, too, about Gettysburg; I grew up about two hours from Gettysburg and it is a place that gets to you...

I can see how these two battlegrounds could be haunted. So much mayhem and mutilation. Be fun to visit them though regardless. And Confrats! on the award.

Patricia, thank you. I've always wanted to build an outdoor wood fired pizza oven. I saw one on Jamie Oliver's cooking show, and I thought, that's for me! I'm not a big pizza eater, and they have to be homemade. My haunted place is home. I had a visit by Ghandi and Winstone Churchill today.

Have a happy weekend, Simon.

I also attended the U of I for awhile-- less than 2 years but I loved it. However, life took me elsewhere. You listed a lot of cool blogs! I'll go check out the new ones! Congrats on the awards!

Thanks, Pat, for the award! I appreciate it very much.

YOU richly deserve it. You're versatile, informative, friendly, supportive, etc. etc. etc.

I'm glad you had to share seven things about yourself so I could learn more about you.

You're definitely having a busy morning. I'm looking forward to checking out your links to bloggers I haven't yet met, and to finally get to our "project." Yesterday was boggling, again!

You deserve your award, and thanks for recognizing me for You Are My Sunshine (which happens to be the very first 'real' song I learned to sing) Award.

Thank you, Patricia. I'm working on my list of things about me and the bloggers to honor, too.

Let's see ...

Congrats Patricia! You are a versatile ray of sunshine so these are very fitting! I love the haunted battlegrounds and I think that places do soak up the emotions of the people that inhabit them. Perhaps this might enter a book of yours?
And thanks for the award - I'll get right on to it!

Thanks for the award, Patricia. I'm a bit busy today but I'll work on bloggers to whom I can pass on the honor. Have a lovely 4th holiday.

Hi everyone. Thanks to all of you who've stopped by so far and left such sweet comments. You are the sunshine in my life.

Sorry to only check in this one time today, but I had and still have umpteen errands to run so I can avoid the lines and crowds over the weekend. Be sure and check in tomorrow as I'll have the info up on the Mystery Writers of America box of books drawing for July.

Jan, haunted battlefields would make a great setting for a paranormal mystery series. I'll have to give that some thought.

Stacy, you asked if I was a Hoosier for a while -- I lived in Muncie from the end of 1969 until spring of 1985, and my boys graduated from high school there. My oldest son graduated from Purdue. I go back to visit an old friend from time to time (and to attend Magna cum Murder, one of the best of the smaller mystery conventions).

Thank you so much Patricia! I really appreciate it - it's so much fun getting awards!

Also, I'm jealous of you; I've always wanted a pug, but sadly I'm allergic...

Congrats on the awards & on following the rules. Linking can take a really long time! :)

Thanks, Patricia! This was a total shock, but it sounds like I have my work cut out for me ( :-D ) to share with others - which for me is so much fun.

I think more than half of the fun of writing an online blog is the people I've met through it. Great writers all, and some real friends as well.

Aw, thank you for the award! What a fun award too - it was nice learning more about you.

I've been camping on Gettysburg, and I know what you mean about the haunted feeling. I don't believe in ghosts, but there are places that just have that feeling (the other place I felt that strongly was on Sadaam's old stronghold around the Al Faw palace... the water in the moats is supposedly contaminated by workers who died in construction, and possibly some people who were murdered. Very spooky place to walk at night by yourself).

Hi Patricia - here at last, phew. Thank you so much for including me in this awards list! I will have some fun with it later this week. Off to check out some of the other blogs now! Have a great 4th of July...
