Helping Those in Disaster Areas
I don't make it a practice to dwell on public disasters and news items, but it's impossible to ignore the storms that have hit different parts of the country in the last few weeks. The photos of Joplin, MO brought tears to my eyes.
My own charity of choice is the Salvation Army, but other groups such as the Red Cross, many faith-based organizations, and other volunteer groups are on site to provide food, shelter, and comfort to those in need. Please help in any way you can.
Tomorrow's Guest Blogger
I'm excited to have Fred Lichtenberg, author of Hunter's World, as my guest blogger tomorrow. I hope you'll join us.
What's Going On?
I'm enjoying a mini-retreat at home while my husband spends most of the next five days playing in a bridge tournament. I'm going to focus on reading and critiques, writing, and revisions. No cooking, no grocery shopping, no appointments. Might try to squeeze in a little more exercise though. Especially if it ever stops raining.
American Idol Fans
Scotty...or Lauren? They're both amazing kids with wonderful voices.
But I'm a Scotty fan. He has that extra dose of personality that completes the package.
And That's All
Time to get busy. I hope you have wonderful and productive day.

Pat - Oh, good luck with your retreat - what a great idea :-). I hope it's quite productive for you.
Enjoy the peacefulness of a quiet home. I might stop by to partake as well ;-)
Hi Margot -- but first I have to run out and buy kitty food (there's always something, right?).
Good morning, Karen. Lauren is great. And when you think back through the rest of this year's group, there was Pia and Casey and Paul and Haley...and on and on. It was an excellent American Idol season.
Dean, I actually thought of holding a couple of five hour write-ins on the weekend for a few writerly friends...but then I realized I'd have to clean up the place first and that was the end of that. Cleaning is not on the agenda until next week. :)
Enjoy your at-home retreat! Treat yourself to really good chocolate since you''re being so productive. Or, as a bribe to be productive. Whatever. Seriously good chocolate should be a part of your plans.
I'm going to jump on the wagon and say I hope you enjoy your retreat! And I totally agree with the idea of having some chocolate around while you're doing it. ;)
Elspeth, seriously good chocolate is always part of my plan. :)
Good morning, Shasta! I hope you don't have to dodge any more storms...these last few days have been so scary from Texas on into the midwest. I have family in Oklahoma City and Enid, OK to I was paying close attention again yesterday.
I'm donating to the Red Cross again. Terrible storms this week.
I was pulling for James, so don't care who wins now.
Hi Alex -- James was pretty cool and super-talented. I believe he'll do very well after the Idol tour is over. I'd love to see one of the concerts in person this season and see how they all connect with the audiences.
Hope the kitten doesn't destroy your concentration.
Hi Kay -- Katie Kitten is doing very well these days and doesn't require quite as much attention as before. Of course, when I see her stretched out for a nap, I'm pretty tempted to hit the couch for an hour...
well, first, do enjoy your retreat - and just as an aside, chocolate, really good dark chocolate, is always a part of all my plans!!!
yes, a terrible tragedy for those upon whom the storm[s] swept down - many caring thoughts to them - my donations go to red cross in times such as those - one of my daughters was a volunteer with them for many years so they hold an extra special place in my heart, aside from their many many good works -
on idol, well, i'm with alex there - james was my pick - james IS my pick - however, i absolutely must go with lauren who, to me, has such charm and character and a fabulous voice -
the votes are in tonight!
again, have a wonderful retreat -
