I wish I could learn to rap...like that elderly lady in The Wedding Singer. I think she might be a little older than I am, but I liked her style.
It's not that I haven't tried. I think it's the rhythm and moves combined with remembering all the words...a lot like rubbing my stomach and patting my head while reciting the Gettysburg Address.
Or trying to twirl a hula hoop around my hips while doing the Electric Slide.
Or eating peanut butter while standing on my head.
Not that I can stand on my head or twirl a hula hoop without hurting myself...
I just wish I could learn to rap.

Pat - I know what you mean. Rap is a form of expression that I couldn't even come close to doing even though I love music. There's something about the way it flows...
I'd love to be able to rap too. What a great skill to have. Would certainly make rhyming easier :)
Hi Patricia .. certainly sounds like an excellent thing for your wish list - both brain sides working together .. more than I could do ... but so wonderful if we take the time out to listen ..
Cheers Hilary
I'm a drummer, so I'd rather supply the backbeat than try to rap. I have rhythm, but it would take some vocal training, because I am absolutely talentless when it comes to singing.
My son got some of that rhythm. He made percussion heading into junior high! That's a big deal, since 50+ kids tried out and they only took 8. The tryout was simple -- he asked him to tap along to a song however he felt like tapping. Con tapped his hand, and alternated feet, all of it on-beat. It looked like he was behind an invisible drumset!
Then he knocked out a paradiddle test (RLRR LRLL) beat. Right-Left-Right-Right Left-Right-Left-Left.
Simple.
Good luck with the rapping. I saw the title of your post and had to check it out!

Maybe rapping while eating peanut butter?
i don't think i could rap in the way it is done today--maybe kinda like the old beatniks did it :)
I love rhythms and beats - I love the sound of rap - at least some of it!
Rapping is not too bad when it's kept clean, intelligent and witty. I can't stand the violent, misogynous, obscene stuff--it's quite offensive to hear especially when it's loudly thrust upon me.
