By Golly, It's Tuesday...Again

Where does the time go?

First of all, It's Chiseled in Rock Day

And the "What's New from Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers?" post includes three new releases from members of RMFW, the writers' organization based in Denver that sponsors the excellent September Colorado Gold Conference.

"What Makes a Blog More Relevant?"

Blogger Arlee Bird asked this question on his blog, Tossing It Out, on Friday. The question relates to opening his blog up to current but often controversial topics and debates. It relates, in a way, to the question I asked here yesterday about revealing personal information on our blogs, so I thought it might be of interest to you as well.

My Guest on Thursday

You won't want to miss E.J. Wesley's guest appearance here on Thursday. His post is called Oh $#@% My Mother is Going to Read This

The Tuesday Question

What's your favorite evening snack?

In the summertime, mine is vanilla frozen yogurt with frozen blueberries.

In winter, I prefer popcorn popped in olive oil.

Pat - Oh, I'll be looking forward to finding out what's new among the fiction writers you profile. Thanks too for those pointers to those other blogs. Interesting stuff! And I love the title of E.J. Wesley's post; I'm looking forward to reading it.

As to your question? Honestly I don't snack in the evenings. But when I do snack I love a good almond/macadamia/cashew mix :-).

I read Arlee's blog, and really love his stance on allowing debatable topics. As a longtime reader, it keeps the blog fresh, I think. That being said, there's always an element of risk involved in that. People will get offended (it's a given, because they get offended even when you're not trying to incite them...), and they will quit reading. A lot of folks don't view debate as a healthy thing, and it stresses them to read things they believe to be fundamentally flawed.

To be perfectly honest, so many of the writer-bloggers out there 'tow the company line to such a degree that I'm not always that interested in what they have to say. So I love it when a blogger speaks their mind.

Excited to hear what your readers think of my post tomorrow! :-)

Margot, you don't snack in the evening? I have not been able to break the habit, although I limit myself now to one instead of chomping on goodies all evening.

E.J., the whole issue of speaking our minds on our blogs involves accepting the consequences. I'm afraid I'd be inclined to happily include respectful comments that disagree with me, but also inclined to delete forever those comments that are ugly and disrespectful.

Your post for Thursday is one that will be relevant to lots and lots of writer. The comments should be interesting.

Controversy isn't my thing, but I'll be following along to see what Lee does.
And for me it's Hot Tamales no matter what the season.

Patricia Stoltey said...

Alex, that sounds like a substantial snack.

i like popcorn year round---kudos to anyone willing to be controversial :)

Patricia Stoltey said...

Lynn, I'd be better off if I ate more popcorn instead of all that frozen yogurt.

Popcorn is my fav. I'll be checking back on Thursday, especially to see what mom shouldn't.

I too, love and admire the blogs of folks you aren't afraid to share their truth.

As I contemplate your question I wonder if I have over shared.
Nice to meet you Patricia, found you through Nancy Williams.

Hi Yolanda, I'm glad you stopped by. Now I must follow you back to your blog to see what kinds of things you reveal. :D

I love popcorn too! Or a mug of hot chocolate in the winter :)

I don't eat much during the day, but I'm a notorious evening snacker...and I'm stuck in a rut! Around seven, it's usually a small container of sugar-free chocolate pudding with a banana and fresh blueberries, or raspberries. At nine, I have an apple, but sometimes that's not enough, so I finish the night off with a handful of almonds or unsalted peanuts.

Patricia Stoltey said...

Jemi, I like my hot chocolate with marshmallow creme and a dash of nutmeg...so cozy.

Hi Gary. Those are super healthy snacks. I've been into English walnuts lately, but it's hard to stick to a handful.

Hi Patricia .. I'll be checking out Lee's blog in a few minutes. Sounds interesting .. I don't reveal much, but I do like to give over character of some description and interest in the blog post .. I'm not nebulous!!

Evening snacks - I seem to be weaning myself away .. used to be olives, crisps (English version!) ... hoummus and veggies sometimes .. I definitely have to cut them out!!

Cheers Hilary

Hilary, hummus and veggies sound like a good thing to me, tasty and also healthy. I love hummus with carrots.

I'm looking forward to whatever Lee is coming up with next.

Summer snack - ice cream (or frozen yogurt or a popcycle, etc.). For winter - warm toast with peanut butter and hot tea.

Thanks for the mention. I can already see some fall off on my comments. I hope I'm not scaring too many readers off. I haven't even started the real controversy yet! I plan to proceed with care.
